At one point in my past, before I started my minimalist journey, I was in debt of $30,000. Always buying the latest and best gadgets, clothes, shoes and just random knick-knacks.
As I transitioned into minimalism, I started to realise that I didn’t need half the stuff I was purchasing. For most of my life I had been conditioned by society to believe more things equaled success and happiness. But as I started to declutter, I realised that happiness comes from within and is not influenced by the amount of stuff you own.
It seemed almost impossible to start paying off my debt but I did. I had actually started to pay off my debt a few years prior to becoming a minimalist, but in my first year of minimalism I ended up saving $10,000!
